WHO WE ARE


D’ART is a compound noun borrowed from French words: “De” and “Art”. “De” in French often means “of” or “from”. Thus the word D’ART implies that something / somebody “of” or “from” Art.

Initially established in Oct 2010, D’ART Research Unit is an independent organization in Hong Kong, aiming at studying, analyzing and promoting contemporary art & design culture through conducting forums and researches, publishing various reference materials, providing design and production services, as well as organizing events and exhibitions related to art & design. ‘Scaffolding‧Viewing‧Assembling’ is the first book published and distributed by D’ART Research Unit.

D’ART Research Unit is officially registered as a commercial firm in Hong Kong in Oct 2011.

D’ART,是由法語“De”及“Art”借取而成之複合名詞。“De”在法語中解作「…屬於」或「由…而來」之意,往往與別的具體的字辭組合成義。D’ART,借喻某物、某人與藝術有關,或因藝術而來。


藝述研究社201010月成立,以香港為基地,是一個藉著研究、出版、舉辦講座,以及策劃藝術活動/展覽以推廣本土文化及藝術的機構;並提供高質素的藝術及設計顧問以及製作服務;於201011月出版及發行首本香港文化研究書籍《棚集》。

藝述研究社於201111月正式註冊為商業機構。

Remarks:
TLC is an experimental art education project leading to a new approach in bridging up community art resources (artists & designers, art organizations, art exhibitions and activities etc.) to school-based art education curriculum. More than 70 schools joined, 12 groups of artists & designers are invited and recruited to design new art curriculum with the teachers. Besides the presenter 1a space, the supporting network has expanded to various art organizations, such as ARTHK, Fotanian Open Studios, Videotage, Complaints Choir of HK, Wooferten, Wanchai Livelihood Place; and “Fleurs des Lettres” and “C for Culture” as media partners.

It is a conclusion of the continuous research on contemporary bamboo design and bamboo culture after “Rethinking Bamboo” exhibition project.
